I have a large picture of a horse drinking water from a lake that wraps around a large red barn, with big trees and a cherry tree in bloom. You can even see the mower marks on the grass. Could you tell me when it was painted? I also found two small milk tins with the same picture on them.

I have a print with Sessions name, dated 1943, a WW II submarine in action--given to me by a WW II vet. I do know that the submarine he used as a model was based at New London, CT. Curious to know what you find out.

I found an ad for Willys Jeep that features a tribute to US Army nurses called a bit of heaven. It is simply signed "sessions" with no first name. KIt's from 1945.

I, too have a painting simply signed Sessions. It is of a working sailboat under sail, towing what looks like a New England type dory and passing a large red light buoy with the number "8" on it. I would guess it's a fishing boat. Two men are aboard, the mainsail is full out although there are two rows of reef lines available. There is laundry out drying on lines on the foredeck.
The boat is white, with blue trim, a little old and beat up and the dory is brown. Since the view is from dead astern, it is impossible to tell whether any foresail is flying or not. There is a headland in the background which is high enough to be more reminiscent of New England than of the tropics.

I have a large watercolor by james m. Sessions called pheasant hunting, information on back says born 1882 rome newyork, died 1962 Chicago il., Be interesting to know more, good luck, Ontario Canada.

Did find out that Sotheby's in NY have a couple of smaller paintings for sale, probably in June, if you have one worth the call, they seem to be up to speed on the whole nine yards, pretty interesting anyway, lots more to say, but have to go, good luck, mark, …

I also have a "print" by Sessions. It's titled Glouchester. I haven't been able to find any information on either the print or the artist. All I know is that the print was given to my father, who was an artist.
If anyone has any information about this print, I'd appreciate hearing from you.

I also have a watercolor or a print of the submarine that was mentioned in the E-Mail on nce the picture is under glass and hanging on the wall. I would also like some more information. Before removing the picture from the frame. This picture is about 22"x30 long Would appreciate any and all information. On this painting thanks.

My parents purchased a wonderful English Tutor style home from Paul Detlefsen in the late 50's. We lived there many years. We did have some of his paintings at one time. The real fun was the basement of the home located in Studio City California. He had hand built a miniature railroad covering the entire basement of the home. Miles of miniature trains, towns, lumber mills, a lake with a forest. My favorite was the water wheel with the running water. Just like one of his paintings. The trains ran through everywhere, man it was great to be a kid. Paul had an artist studio above the garage. The large skylight let in the wonderful natural light while painting. There was a darkroom next to the studio for photography. That is where I set up my first darkroom. It was a very large home, Olympic size pool and outside summer house by the pool, park like setting. If you are in California or just want to know more, I do have some old pictures from there and I can give you the address. As I remember he moved to Hawaii in the late 50's.

My Grandfather has the original Painting of the "The Big Moment" By Paul Detlefsen. If anyone has any information about this painting Please reply in this discussion. Actually folks you all most likely have his prints. Paul Detlefsen was a prolific calendar artist, he also did much work for the film industry as well as some for Walt Disney. Many of his original works were turned into prints and then "touched up" using an artists gel medium to give them the texture of original oils. They look great and have wonderful sentimental value, but… If you really did have an original, that would be something big!

I don't know much about this painter, but I purchased a set of 10 collectors plates (Americana Series) by in the 70s depicting his paintings. Broke one years ago when I moved and have not found a replacement. Would be interested in finding a possible source. Have found lots of prints available on Ebay.

I have a watercolor of fishing boats by a painter named sessions dated 32… I live in Connecticut… and sessions is a classic well known Connecticut clock company that is now out of business… I would love to know more…

I found him at I searched Google under Sessions, and painters within results. "Sessions is considered the foremost "brush artist" (battle scene interpreter) and camouflage expert in the US.".

I have a watercolor by sessions named gloucester.17 × 22 in. any idea who he was and is it of any value?

Is this Paul from CUA?

The Horse and Buggy Days print by Paul Detlefsen has been around since at least 1955. The original of this picture is hanging in City Hall out inSan Deago, California. It is a great painting! One of my favorites by Detlefsen.

We have the Horse and Buggy Days picture with the original frame, and it has his signature.

Speaking of horse and buggy, anyone know of an old horse drawn buggy for sale in California?

I have been trying to find information on the Horse and Buggy painting. I have a large framed picture of it. Now I do not know a lot aboout paintings so I assume it is a print. Do not know the value I found it when my grandparents died.
Anymore informaiton you might have would be great if you could Like how many prints there were etc. This is what I guess you would call the couch size:):) there were other paintings but not by Paul. Yet all big with frames.
Unfortuantly until I find wall space they are all collecting dust.

It was good to hear from you. The Horse and Buggy Days painting has been around at least since 1955 since it was on a calander that year. There must of been tons of copies of this picture made over time. I also have a sofa size Horse and Buggy Days painting. This picture has also been on place mats, tote bag, jigsaw puzzle, and tin can. The original of this picture is hanging in City Hall out in San Deago, Ca. It took me almost 14 years to find a copy of this picture. I found it at a second hand store going on 5 years ago. Hope this information has helped you. Look forward to hearing from you!

Would anyone be willing to sell their copy of Serenity by Paul Detlefsen if they have one. Serenity is the picture of several large redwood trees with two deer standing by one of the trees. Their is a stream that is running in the front of the picture. There is a beatiful sunlight shinning down through the trees. I know someone who would like to have this picture. The De Young museum in San Francisco owns a similar print. I also have one. Try searching for Julien Celos by keyword. I have also been researching this artist and it is difficult to find information.

I recently purchased two Julien Celos works of art in New Zealand. I cann ot find any information except that he was born in 1853.
