My grandparents had a print of his. I don't know what its called. It was of a forest with tall trees & 2 or 3 deer standing by a small creek that ran through the forest. If anyone could tell me the name of this of this print and maybe where I could find a picture of it on the 'net somewhere I would be most appreciative. Thanx.

I have two Detlefsen prints which I bought in the early 1970's. I've not seen them anywhere else but would like to replace one if possible as it's become very darkened over time.
The first is about 2'6" by 2' and is a mill stream with a mill in the background, a little boy shying stones, and a little girl holding a bouquet of flowers, watching him. It's very peaceful and beautiful.
The second is bigger, maybe 3' by 2', and shows a line of children running out of a little country school up in the background. Boys are leaping over stones and leapfrogging each other, girls are running behind them. At the door to the school, the teacher is shaking hands goodbye with the last little girl. This is the one that is darkened and a bit damaged.
I don't know the names of either of these prints but would very much like to know more about them.

I have a china set (triumph american limoges, sebring, Ohio warranted 22-k-gold) is what it says on the bottom and I was wondering what it was worth? It is in fairly good shape, no chips, and is a pretty clean set. If you could give me an estimated price that would be helpful.

I have the School's Out painting by Mr. Detefsen. I would very much like to know its value. I too am the proud owner of the "School's Out" painting. I came across it about 10 years ago, it is a large, heavy framed picture, and it is exactly as you have described it. It is such a delightful image to look at, it makes you think of the "good old days" It currently hangs in my grandmothers dining room because I know how much she adores it, but I will someday bring it home with me!
Congratulations for owning such a beautiful piece of art.

I just purchased the "Old Mill Stream' yesterday and was doing some research my self. Mine is a 11x14. Feel free to contack me. Very long link. LOL.

I also have this picture. The picture itself is and now this is just a estimation, 30in wide, by 25 in tall. It is in a wooden frame. I was doing research on it, after laying on the couch looking up at it wondering if it was worth anything. All I have found thus far, is one, without a frame and smaller on ebay for $9.99.

I bought one painting today its of an old barn with wood inside a lean to. With a dog, geese chasing with a little boy and girl a water playing wuth ducks, an old man putting a log fixing to cut up. Please reply.

Charles Allen Gilbert
Charles Allen Gilbert, painted one of the earliest versions of this picture. It shows a woman sitting at her vanity putting on makeup. From a distance the viewer sees a skull formed by the lady's head & her reflection. The skulls teeth are formed by the bottles of perfume & nail polish etc. sitting on the vanity table. Gilbert used the picture to play on the double meaning of the word "Vanity". A vanity is in one sense of the word a dressing table with a mirror. In another meaning of the word "vanity" means being too self-absorbed and concerned with one's looks. The title "All is Vanity" and the double image are meant to imply that being overly concerned with your own beauty is futile because when we die we will all look the same - nothing but a skull.

All is Vanity.

I believe that Gilbert was making a little deeper statement than what I have seen here. The message I get rom this painting is that no matter what you have, or what you look like, your final destination is a six-foot hole in the ground. Death is the GREAT leveler.

I have one of his paintings that I inherited last year from an aunt who bought it at auction in England but I have no information on the painter nor the name of this work. It is a scene of a boy fishing with a windmill in the background. The mahogany and plaster gilt frame is about 3' and 2 1/2'.

It's quite frustrating not being able to find a site with the entire collection of Detlefsen paintings on it, or to be able to order the rarer prints.

I am writting in hopes you can help me to find the link that show's all of Paul Detlefsen's paintings- My Grandparents have a very large print of the Big Moment. I remember as a child loving that picture and I would love to see all of his work. His paintings really touch my heart. I want to thank you for any and all your assistance in this and God Bless.

'Spring Morn' is one of the rarer prints by Paul Detlefsen and much sought after. Although it is a small copy, most art shops do not even offer this print. You could probably get about $20 or more if you sell it on ebay. A larger print sold for $46 just yesterday.

The Horse and Buggy Days painting brings out memories of my childhood back around 1978. I first remember seeing this painting at one my mom's friends house that year but only remembered the horse from the first time I saw it. My family knows a number of people that have this picture. Now I have the sofa-size picture of Horse and Buggy Days. This picture brings out the memories of a lady who was like a gradma to me who had this picture. I remember seeing this picture in her house growing up. She had it hanging in her den since 1963.

Well for years I've had what I thought was a painting. But it looks like a print on textured 's been put away for 35 years or ont markings a small plaque on the original frame "the smithy" Paul is 24x60 and has pattern #260 on back. I always liked it and looking around on web found out he is well regarded as an artist. I will dust it off and make room for this nice piece of work.

My grandparents had this picture and I'm trying to locate another copy. The versions I see labeled "Horse and Buggy Days" do not seem to match what I remember. Does anyone know where I may find a copy? It brings back memories of my grandparents. Thanks.

I have the picture called happy days. I do not know if it is what you are looking for. It also has gold making and a wooden frame and a little girl, boy and an old wagon spraying water for the children to play in. My wife and I were given a print for a wedding gift 40 years ago. It is a print of the young boy standing in front of the blacksmith's shop. The Blacksmith is heating and molding a horseshoe. The buggy is there with the traces for the horse resting on the ground. There is another man removing a shoe from the horse, getting it ready for the new shoe.
The markings on the paper on the back of this print is:
HORSE AND BUGGY DAYS

If these markings and/or numbers ring a bell with anyone, please let me know. I, too, might opt to sell if the price is right.
